Chicken are a breed of poultry, most famous for laying eggs.
In China the chicken is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac. As the chinese character for chicken may refer to both rooster and hen, it is more popular in China to depict a rooster and this is why the year of the chicken is widely known in the west as the year of the rooster
